Situated in a prime waterfront location in Limassol, this 7-storey residential building required a full facade renovation to align with the high value of its surroundings.

With age-related wear and outdated aesthetics and performance, a complete upgrade was essential to restore both function and visual appeal.

Transformation concept

Our objective was threefold: to enhance the building's appearance, improve its energy efficiency, and ensure the development remained financially viable.

We set out to create a harmonious blend of form and function - respecting the original design and its coastal context, while addressing of modern energy standards.

The redesigned facade serves as a dynamic skin that responds to the local climate, boosts thermal comfort, and elevates the building's identity.

Through passive design strategies, we signficantly reduced energy demand, while the introduction of new cladding materials (PV and wood) created a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

Carefully designed overhangs provide effective summer shading without obstructing winter sunlight, ensuring year-round comfort.

To further enrich the living environment, plant boxes were integrated into the facade design.

These not only enhance the local microclimate but also introduce a sensory experience through the scent of herbs and flowers, bringing nature closer to everyday life.

Energy-generating facade

Cyprus enjoys around 320 sunny days a year -making solar energy a smart, sustainable choice. The building's south-west orientation offered the perfect surface for energy generation.

A solar analysis guided the strategic panel placement to maximize efficiency.

We integrated brown solar panels that blend naturally with the wooden cladding, maintaining a unified facade while producing clean energy.
